Our history
In 1912, the massive stone building of the Bank of Finland was completed on Kauppakatu in Kuopio, and the caretaker’s apartment was located in the stone foundation. Almost a hundred years later, the caretaker’s apartment was transformed into an atmospheric basement restaurant when Pannuhuone opened its doors for the first time on 12 April 2001.
A documentary series has also been made about Pannuhuone. The Pannuhuone 20+1 documentary focuses on people, especially employees and customers, and explores the significant role that Pannuhuone has played in local cultural life.

Private events
Pannuhuone offers excellent facilities for organizing private events for groups of 15–35 people. In the summer, there is also a gorgeous covered terrace, which can accommodate more than 150 people in total!
Beverage classes
Pannuhuone Gust. Ranin offers various kinds of beverage classes. With us, your group can learn more about, for example, cocktails, whisky, gin or wines. The classes are led by an experienced bartender.
